Last weekend we travelled to Baltimore, West Cork and had an amazing whale watching trip with Nic Slocum. We didn’t have the best weather that morning (it was misty with occasional showers), but hey, this is Ireland – not Providencia.
During this fantastic four and half hour trip out on the open seas we enjoyed stunning landscapes of West Cork and had some spectacular sightings of whales, seals and dolphins.
After we boarded the twin-engine catamaran “Voyager” (built specifically for whale and dolphin watching tours) and after we got safety instructions, captain Nic Slocum told us about the West Cork area and its wildlife. Nic has been watching whale around the Irish coast for almost 25 years and he knows how to spot whales. He is definitely the best guide you could wish for.
Besides few sights of Minke Whale and Harbour Porpoise, we saw colony of seals resting on the cliffs, various sea birds and dolphins. We were thrilled and awe-struck to see about fifteen dolphins dancing around the boat and jumping out of the water – amazing.
This Whale Watching trip with Nic is an incredible experience and I could only recommend it. You’ll have a great time out on the seas and won’t regret this.
