If there was just one restaurant in Dublin that I must recommend to you, then it would be definitely Tippenyaki restaurant in Rathmines. We’ve been there last night, and I have to say, it was just amazing and an unforgettable experience.

The idea of this restaurant is that the chef stands behind a counter set with big iron plates and cooks up a storm, while the diner, meanwhile, is part of the audience, participating in the whole event. This is called Teppanyaki.

Teppanyaki is a type of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle (teppan) to cook food. A good teppanyaki chef is a real juggler and entertainer, tossing eggs in the air and landing them on the hot plate, unscathed, to cook for fried rice, or stacking onions in the shape of Mount Fuji, setting them on fire with a whoosh of flame and dousing them in liquid, which then bubbles up like lava.

It really is a great entertainment concept. The end result is popular because it is grilled food that is chopped up for speedy cooking and easy eating with chopsticks.

So, if you are looking for the great food with a little bit of show while the food is prepared, then you must visit Tippenyaki restaurant in Rathmines.
