Azores
The Azores… a Portuguese archipelago way out in the Atlantic Ocean. The Azores is archipelago of nine major Azorean islands and eight small Formigas, and all of the islands have volcanic origins.
The mountain of Pico, at 2,351 m (7,713 ft) is the highest mountain in all of Portugal. The Azores are actually the tops of some of the tallest mountains on the planet, as measured from their base at the bottom of the ocean. The archipelago forms the Autonomous Region of Azores, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal.
Apart from the mountains, Azores are known for their beautiful scenery and waterfalls.
Mexico Holidays
I have been looking for this year holidays for quite a few days, but I still haven’t found what we are looking for. Our dream destination this year is Mexico. This beautiful vibrant and colourful country is somehow unique, and has a lot to offer, from cactus-studded deserts to white sandy beaches, and blue waters. As we are looking for apartment or villas instead of hotel, I was delighted when I found out about Mexico beach rentals. They have a great selection of condos, homes and apartments across the Mexico. That is exactly what we have on mind. Nice little condo, far away from the crowdy hotel resorts. Nice romantic place, with beautiful scenery somewhere in Mexico.
City of Rome
Rome – the capital city of Italy and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and my favourite too. Once, the capital of western civilization Rome has it all. Great food, stunning architecture, and lot more. You will probably run out of time before you see all the fascinating sites in this incredible city.
The world famous Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, The Pantheon, Vatican City, the epic times that saw the fall of a Republic and the creation of an empire, Rome’s history can be read everywhere.
This bustling city has a variety of accommodation to offer, ranging from hotels, guesthouses, or self-catering vacation rentals in Rome.
Rome never leaves me indifferent. It has the power to rouse strong feelings in me with its charm and diversity. And that is why I am always coming back to Rome, to one of my favourite cities in the Europe.
Paris
Paris – a city famous for its architecture, food, wine, street markets and galleries, and of course The Eiffel Tower. It is one of the cities, that has honour to be called a city of love. And it is one of the cities I love most.
Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals. The Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.
It wouldn’t be possible to visit Paris without climbing to the top of the world famous Eiffel Tower. The tower is a symbol of Paris and it is a good landmark to not get lost. Illuminated at the night, it dominates the city’s skyline.
Champs Elysees is another must see in Paris. It is the main vein of the city, home of the famous designer label shops and the best restaurants. It is an ‘up-market’ area that attracts thousands of tourists every year.
Paris is also home to the famous Louvre Museum, that houses over three hundred thousand exhibits, but not all of them are ever on display. It is really easy to spend hours at Louvre, absorbed by all the famous paintings and statutes including the Venus de Milo and of course Mona Lisa.
What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great city. Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe on Champs Elysees, another Paris landmark with the names of his generals engraved upon to honor them and his troops. It also features an observatory to take in surrounding views.
Paris has a variety of places to which is impossible to list all here. Many of these places shouldn’t be missed. No wonder that people coming to Paris for just couple of days quickly realize that they would need a few more days to see all the great and famous places there. And that is a good reason to come back to this amazing city.
Madeira Holidays
It is hard to find a more romantic island in the Atlantic Ocean than Madeira. With temperatures always around 25 degrees centigrade and air rather humid, Madeira has a reputation for being an “island of eternal spring”. Some tree fruits such as cherries and small, yellow medlars bear fruit twice a year.
No wonder, Madeira Holidays are for people who cannot wait for spring.
Once Europe’s poorest region, Madeira has made a leap in development as most of the island’s towns are now linked by highway, making the travelling on the island much easier.
Eventhough natural beaches along Madeira’s rocky coast are rare, there are still many places with an easy access to the ocean. In Porto Moniz, there are natural swimming pools set in volcanic rock, and the Lido Galomar in Canico is a completely natural volcanic-rock bay that is popular with bathers. Small artificial beaches of sand have been created over the past few years.
But a retreat into the mountains is a remedy for that. More and more people, young as well as old, are discovering the appeal of hiking for hours in relative isolation. One of the most spectacular mountain hikes in Europe goes from Pico do Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest mountain, over Torre Pico to Pico Ruivo, the highest peak of Madeira. Hikes along levadas, or irrigation canals, are particularly popular. The first canals were built by slaves in the 15th century, to help irrigate sugar cane plantations. With a variety degrees of difficulty, the hikes can be strolls along a babbling brook or treks on a narrow path without a railing along a precipice.
Tired and hungry after hiking, many tourists seek out the local food. Espada, on the menu in many places, is a deep-sea fish caught off Madeira’s coast. Black cutlass fish tastes great, and the island’s inhabitants are said to have as many recipes for it as there are days in the year.
The most popular kind of meat, espetadas, comes on a laurel-wood skewer. Seasoned with sea salt, pepper and garlic, it is served on almost every occasion with garlic bread, polenta or sweet potatos and of course Madeira wine.
